Photos taken on 14/11/10 on a day at the beach at Donna Nook with Photographers on Safari. All my photos were taken on a 150-500mm lens, as we all kept a respectful distance from the seals at all times. Donna Nook causes a lot of debate these days with one camp claiming that photographers going down to the beach are directly contributing to pup mortality rates and the other pointing out that small numbers of responsible photographers know how to avoid causing any disturbance to the seals so are not a part of the problem. I personally am inclined to agree with the latter (it would be hypocritical of me to claim otherwise having been there myself) but I am well aware that the more phtoographers do it, no matter how responsible, the more are encouraged to follow, and there are bound to be the few in the increased numbers who do cause the problems. Bottom line in all wildlife photography, at the end of the day the animal’s welfare must always come first
